Dr. Larry Guangxin Li – Managing Director

Dr. Larry Guanxin Li is a founding managing director of DFJ DragonFund I. He has extensive experience in investment in Chinese companies, in particular in the healthcare and technology transfer fields.

Dr. Li was born in China and has spent his entire career in China. Dr. Li was a co-founder and Managing Director of SHVC – Shanghai DJ Venture and has been a Managing Director of Shanghai VC (International) Ltd. since 2000. He has over 21 years of operating, R&D, business incubating and investing experience. Dr. Li has made investments in Actions IC (ACTS), MicroPort Medical and eBao Tech. He started his career as an engineer at the National Die & Model CAD Research Institute. He began his technological transfer path as director of Shanghai JinQiao Hi-Tech Innovation Center in 1993. For the next five years, more than 20 start-up companies were incubated at this center, of which three achieved prominent exits. He worked as a research fellow and contract researcher at the University of Michigan and Daimler-Chrysler in 1998. Dr. Li holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics from Shanghai Jiaotong University.

Most recently, Dr. Li has been recognized as a leader ofvarious organizations and conferences in China. Currently, he is the vice chairman of the Shanghai Venture Capital Association, a board member of the Pudong Returnee Association. In 2007, he was the chair of the 2007 Venture Capital and Private Equity Forum (Healthcare and Life Science sessions), and in 2008 will be chair of the Venture Capital and Private Equity Forum again (Healthcare and Education sessions). Dr. Li was also invited to be a lecturer at the China Venture Capital Research Institute (CVCRI). Dr. Li has published various articles and dissertations on technology-based start-ups.
